Only five more weeks until completion of the dietetic internship! This week I'm back at the hospital to start rotation in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit; I'm very excited to see the little ones. Coming next is bariatrics at Massachusetts General Hospital. As classes finish and rotations draw to an end, I try to disentangle from the flurry of work and appreciate the mentors, professors, colleagues, and friends who have made the Tufts Dietetic Internship such a fabulous experience thus far.
Pictured above: Winter has finally switched to spring, so I'm changing up my lunchtime routine to fresh salad.
What are you packing for lunch these days?
Best of luck to Molly, Melissa, and all my other friends who are running the Boston Marathon tomorrow!
love,
Rach

Oooh Rach! Can't wait to hear about how the Neonatal unit is. For awhile I thought I wanted to be a NICU nurse... definitely love the wee ones! Have fun and praying for you!
almost done! so exciting! any future plans once you finish the internship?
oh rach, you are almost there!! I know you'll finish well :)
So cool you are almost done. That is great about the international experience. I just saw something posted for the European Union Food Information Council. You will have a blast and you get to be in Europe! There is a lot going on with US RDs abroad. You might want to contact the Country Rep for Begium and ask about any RD events or activities going on there. We might not have a rep there, but you can check with those of surrounding countries. This is through the American Overseas Dietetic Association. The website is www.eatrightoverseas.org. Then you can get a feel if there are other RDs in the area, other than those you might be doing the internship with. Of course, they may know other RDs in their country and can help you out.
As for resources, if you are considering staying international or want to be in the loop, and do not have a state on your ADA membership (if you are in ADA), consider AODA (ok, ok, I am biased, I am a member and Nominating Committee Chair). But, this is a great way to stay in touch with RDs overseas. I can't think of any specific books or anything off the top of my head, although I do like the book from ADA on Cultural Food Practices (I think I got that one right). The AODA has some country fact sheets out, but I am not sure if they are posted. Yes, I should know this, so I will check. I think they are on the ADA website. If I think of anything else I will email and feel free to ask any other questions you might have.
